Down To The Bone

Winner of the Special Jury Prize and Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival, this film was directed by Debra Granik and starring Vera Farmiga. Irene, a young, working class mother (Vera Farmiga) struggling to raise her child while working as a cashier in a supermarket, finds her hard life made immeasurably harder by her cocaine addiction. When her dealer cuts her off, Irene decides to take a positive step by entering rehab, where she meets a strong willed, sympathetic nurse (Hugh Dillon) who confides in her his own tale of recovery. Although their relationship offers mutual strength and comfort, the danger of backsliding is never far away...
